- A romantic landscape composition with a striking narrative quality. - A virtuoso depiction of sky and light that attests to Spitzweg’s status as a master colorist. - The motif of a stroll is one of the most popular themes in Spitzweg’s oeuvre. - Spitzweg’s paintings are part of the most important German collections of 19th-century art, including the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin, and the State Art Collections in Dresden.
