• A rare work by this important German Surrealist, characterized by subtle color nuances in his signature style.
• The irrational and the surreal, the almost formless and alienated, are defining elements of Richard Oelze's work.
• From the artist's highly successful period around 1960: participation in documenta II (1959) and documenta III (1964) in Kassel, as well as the 1968 Venice Biennale.
• Offered on the international auction market for the first time..
Ellida Schargo von Alten, Posteholz. Private collection (gifted by the above in 1984)
In harmonious colors and in good to very good condition. Isolated, tiny surface stains, such as those along the upper edge of the painting and in center left, but mostly original and thus inherent to the work, blending extremely harmoniously into the overall composition. The lower right corner of the painting shows minimal wear. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the aid of a UV light source, and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
