A Dogon and a Baule Mask Mali / Ivory Coast, c. late 19th to early 20th century Both old and traditional. The Dogon is the head piece from a large mask with superstructure (kanaga, satimbe, or sirige) with black and white pigments, fiber netting on back. The Baule a kplekple mask for the Goli Society, black face with red pigments at eyes, mouth, forehead, and tips of horns, and white around the perimeter. Both in good condition considering their apparent age and exposure to the elements. The Dogon with breaks, chips, and stable hairline cracks. The Baule extremely eroded on back, proper left eyehole repaired, paint scuffed on forehead and right horn.
