Colored chalk over India ink. Signed in lower right. On creme laid paper. 25 x 34 cm. , the full sheet. [JS].
- A suspenseful composition: Schmidt-Rottluff powerfully placed the vertical line of the signal mast over a landscape composed of the horizontal lines of water, horizon and sky. - A striking testimony to Schmidt-Rottluff's extraordinary mastery of drawing and color. - Part of a North German private collection for almost 30 years.
The work is doccumented in the archive of the Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation, Berlin.
