- With his dithyrambic art, Lüpertz confidently explores the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. - Lüpertz's first dithyrambic painting dates from the mid-1960s, marking the beginning of this visionary early work complex. - “Abstraction not in the sense of abstracting, but as the invention of a nonsense object. [...] As a kind of UFO, an element stranded from another world.” (Markus Lüpertz, 1989).
