• Hartung had a particularly prolific creative phase in the post-war years that led to his artistic breakthrough.
• Depictions of animals played an essential role in his oeuvre from this period, helping him discover his path to abstraction.

In good condition. Smooth surface, with an anthracite patina that shimmers in blue-green tones. The tips of the ears are minimally rubbed. Tiny trace of rubbing on the left between the nose and ears. With isolated tiny adhesions on the reverse (only visible in oblique light).
