A Gocco print is the final result of a small, self-contained, screen-printing device made by the Riso Kagaku Corporation. The printing system which was available to purchase from 1977-2008 developed from the Japanese tradition of sending New Year's Day postcards (nengajō) to their loved ones. The name Gocco derives from the Japanese gokko which roughly translates to playing games and conforms to Riso Kagaku president Noboru Hayama's mentality that the act of play is deeply intrinsic to both Japanese national heritage, and intellectualism.
