Bunny Yeager (American, 1929-2014) Bunny Yeager with Camera, circa 1955 Digital pigment print, printed later 22-1/2 x 18 inches (57.1 x 45.7 cm) (image) 24 x 20 inches (sheet) Signed in pencil, verso. From the collection of Grapefruit Moon Gallery Bunny Yeager considered the moment she was able to afford her first Rolleiflex to be a confirmation that she had indeed become a professional photographer. Along with her Burke & White, she would use her Rolleiflex as a frequent prop in her self-portraits, and in many ways, an avatar of herself. With her downturned gaze looking into the camera, that then turns its gaze on the viewer, we are left with the impression that looking at the camera for Bunny Yeager is an act of deep vulnerability for viewer and photographer, and deeply intimate. Toward the end of her life, Bunny Yeager found the critical acclaim that had overlooked her for much of her career, with celebrated exhibitions at galleries in Florida and beyond, and a museum exhibition at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. For these, Yeager reapproached her earlier work as works of fine art, creating museum quality exhibition sized prints such as the one seen here. Overall excellent condition with no visible defects. Sheet is cornered to a window mat and framed under acrylic measuring 32 x 26 inches.
