Angel Ortiz, better known as LA II, emerged from New York City's downtown art scene in the early 1980s through his celebrated collaborations with Keith Haring. Renowned for his energetic line work and improvisational approach, Ortiz developed a distinctive visual language rooted in graffiti, abstraction, and the visual rhythms of the city. In Ramona's Rose-High and Tight, interlocking lines and vibrant fields of color radiate from a central floral form, creating a composition filled with movement and energy. Executed in acrylic, spray paint, and ink, the work exemplifies LA II's signature style, where spontaneous mark-making and layered imagery combine to create a dynamic visual experience. The painting reflects the artist's enduring ability to translate the spirit of New York street culture into a bold contemporary abstraction.
