Lined canvases. Each with some yellowing to the varnish layer and finely patterned craquelure throughout. Each with a few scattered minor surface abrasions and small dots of retouched loss. One with scattered unretouched losses in left side of work. Each with mild surface dirt and dust, most apparent near edges. Not examined out of frame due to size.
Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly on each. The more overcast work with brushy retouching in lower right corner, affecting some parts of the signature, which appears to have been partially strengthened, and with a few additional scattered dots and dashes of retouching in the sky area. The other with an area of brushy retouching in the background above the leftmost ship in the distance, and with a few additional dots and dashes of more finely applied retouching scattered throughout.
