Fink, Social Graces, powerHouse books, New York, 2001 The two works by Larry Fink in this sale, from his series Social Graces series contrasts two very distinct worlds -- that of Manhattan high society and in rural Pennsylvania. In the city, smartly dressed patrons of the arts dance at a glittering exhibition opening, while in Martin's Creek, Pennsylvania, the matriarch of a farming family casually waves a gun at Fink. What the subjects of these two works share is their willingness to be photographed. Fink wrote, "People like to have their pictures taken. It is a profound aspect of our culture, this compulsion for proof. It allows me to wade into a party." Neutral toned print on semi-gloss, double-weight paper with margins. Few handling creases and dings across lower half of image/ lower margin, all visible in a raking light only. In very good condition overall. Sold unmatted and unframed.
