Description

Johann Friedrich Nagel trained at the drawing school of the Meissen porcelain manufactory, which was affiliated to the Dresden Academy of Art at the time. After a stay in Italy, he moved to Prussia in the 1780s, where he produced a series of gouaches under the title “Sammlung aller schoenen und merkwürdigen Parthien in saemmtlichen Koenigl. Preussischen Staaten” under King Frederick William II. These were subsequently published by Morino & Compagnie in Berlin as a series of coloured outline etchings, some with grey wash. – The margins minimally rubbed, otherwise fresh colours and in good condition.
