Colored chalk drawing. On off-white wove paper. 36.4 x 38.7 cm. , the full sheet. [CH].
- A colored drawing from the sought-after Dresden “Brücke” period. - The female nude in the studio was one of the key motifs of E. L. Kirchner and the “Brücke” artists. - Spontaneous and immediate: with a few, precise lines and dynamic, hatched color fields, Kirchner captured a fleeting moment on paper. - The motif of the double female nude is also found in paintings with similar compositions, such as “Two Nudes on Carpets” (1909, Gordon 79) or “Two Nudes on a Blue Sofa” (1910/20, Gabriele and Werner Merzbacher Collection, Kunsthaus Zürich).
This work is documented in the Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Archive in Wichtrach/Bern.

A colourful studio scene, in good condition. The sheet is slightly yellowed and has small, faint brown spots. The corners and edges are somewhat creased, with small diagonal creases and isolated handling creases. There are a few tiny tears along the top and bottom edges, which do not detract from the overall appearance.
