A native of Palermo, with an Italian father and Russian mother, Enzo Sellerio initially studied law and was for some time a lecturer in law at the University of Palermo before becoming a full-time photographer in the early 1950s. His work focuses mostly on everyday Sicilian life, as here, although in the mid-1960s he also spent a short period in the U.S. working as a freelance photographer for Vogue and Fortune magazines.
