Charles Wysocki (American, 1928-2002) Connecticut Plum Farm Oil on canvas 24 x 30 inches (61.0 x 76.2 cm) Signed lower right: © Charles Wysocki PROVENANCE: Hirschl & Adler Galleries, New York; Acquired by the present owner from the above, circa 1980s. EXHIBITED: Triton Museum of Art, San Jose, California, n.d. "I am a proud American and my desire is to stress the positive images of our country and its people. The American flag flies high in most of my paintings. To me, the quality of life in average, everyday America seems to be the best in the world—which makes painting this country a pleasure, a joyful thing to do . . . Portraying the charm of scenes in New England gives me double pleasure as that is the area which most appeals to me. I love the terrain, the architecture, the peace; using the special "feel" of New England as a basis, I construct landscapes, townscapes, seascapes; I try to show life as it once was, and often as it still is." - Charles Wysocki, An American Celebration: The Art of Charles Wysocki, New York, 1985, p.
