An Italian Silver Covered Box with Micromosaic Plaque, 20th century Marks: BARGIONI, 925 2-3/4 x 8-1/8 x 6-1/8 inches (7.0 x 20.6 x 15.6 cm) 1084 grams (34.8519 troy ounces) The micromosaic plaque depicts the tomb of Caecilia Metella, a mausoleum on the Via Appia. This highly pictorial ruin was a frequent stop for visitors on Grand Tour, as well as a popular subject for vedute works. Property from the Collection of Frederick H.
